Marketers up and down the country will no doubt be eagerly preparing for Promotional Products Week, a national event that is set to take place again soon.

This year’s celebration will be held from September 15th to 19th, so there is still plenty of time to get hold of some promotional items with which to join in the fun.

The British Promotional Merchandise Association (BPMA) is behind the event, which was begun in 2013 and has already proven to be a resounding success.

Its aim is to raise the profile of just how effective promotional products can be, with the organisation’s research finding that 89 per cent of people will keep such a gift and may therefore remember the brand in question when they need its products or services.

“We want companies to recognise the value of promotional products and understand the many different ways they can improve brand awareness,” the BPMA said.

With sales of promotional products in the UK now worth £840 million per annum and three in ten consumers revealing they have purposely changed their regular brand in order to receive a branded free gift, this could be the perfect time to try out the method of marketing.

Indeed, this is particularly applicable if companies have trade or retail shows coming up, as they can easily be given out from a stand and are able to spread a message and logo far and wide. Printed pens and cotton bags may be best suited to this, as they can prove really useful for people while they are still at the venue.

For example, autumn sees the return of the craft shows operated by International Craft & Hobby Fair, where retailers are likely to be offering goody bags and branded pens to help them stand out from their competitors. This is a tactic that can be emulated by firms in any sector, with Promotional Products Week the perfect opportunity to give it a go.
