The security team that will accompany the 2012 Olympic flame around the UK will wear branded clothing, it has been reported.
A 28-strong team of Scotland Yard officers will guard the flame on its 70-day relay tour, even sleeping beside it at night, the Evening Standard said.
The specially picked unit will wear branded Olympic clothing that features their names and ID numbers as they run alongside the torch.
Using promotional products like branded clothing is a great way to enhance a brand, but in this case it's a clear example of how it can help in a security operation.
The clothing acts as a visible deterrent to those who may want to disrupt the torch's carriage.
London 2012 this week revealed the first 74 locations the flame will pass through on its relay tour.
Beginning from Land's End on May 19th 2012, it is estimated that 95 per cent of the population will be within one hour of the relay.
Lord Sebastian Coe said: “The Olympic Flame will shine a light right across every nation and region of the UK and showcase the very best of who we are and where we live.”
