A design company in California has added a Spanish twist to the conventional umbrella design in order to raise funds for charity.

Santa Barbara Designs is selling pink flamenco promotional umbrellas for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, reports Speciality Fabrics Review.

The promotional umbrellas feature extravagant volantes – the ruffles which are found on Flamenco dancers' dresses in Andalucia.

Despite the ornate design, the company assures customers that the umbrellas are suitable for use in a number of weather conditions, be it rain or shine.

The unusual appearance of the umbrella is also likely to set tongues wagging, which is a great way to increase awareness in a cause.

Pink has been adopted as the colour associated with breast cancer awareness, but the firm has 50 different colours of the flamenco design available as well as one which comes in stripes.

When a customer purchases a promotional flamenco umbrella in any of these colours they can choose a charity which the company will donate money to.
